Our Story
Founded in the summer of 2020 By Kim Dam, Portland Cà Phê was born from a desire to bring Vietnamese-grown coffee beans to a market where Southeast Asian coffee was underrepresented. Rooted in community and culture we set out to create space for Vietnamese coffee to be recognized, celebrated, and experienced in new ways.
In the spring of 2021, our founder Kim opened our first quán cà phê in Southeast Portland, becoming Portland’s first Vietnamese specialty coffee house.
What began as a vision to share the richness of Vietnamese coffee has grown into spaces that honors our roots while bringing people together through a shared love of coffee and culture.

Our Coffee
Vietnam is the second largest coffee producer and the largest robusta bean producer in the world however the origin itself is not as represented as other countries when it comes to specialty coffee.
We seek to destigmatize and challenge the narrative that Vietnamese coffee beans is of lower-grade by crafting specialty roasts that showcase the full-bodied and distinctive flavors of our beans. At Portland Cà Phê we specialize in both robusta and arabica beans from Vietnam.
It is important to us to understand where our beans are coming from and who the folks are that are growing the beans, therefore we strive to work with Vietnamese farmers directly and with importers that provide valuable tools, training and services to the coffee farmers and coffee communities.
We currently work with Future Coffee Farm and Stone X Coffee.
Fun fact: Robusta beans have 2x more caffeine content, 60% less sugar and 60% less fats than arabica beans.
